Week Seven

Received some new papers from our agency that gives some added details on time frames, etc. We received our pre-approval from CCAA ( the chinese agency) on 1/20/2010 for our match with Joelle. Any day now we should receive our Letter of Approval from China. It has to go from CCAA to Bethany Christian Services home office to us by UPS. We then sign the papers the same day and fed ex them back to Bethany. The following is some information from Bethany:

Letter of Acceptance ( LOA)
The LOA is the CCAA's official acceptance document that requires original signatures from the adoptive parents. This letter is received from the China Team from the CCAA within a few weeks to a few months of PA (pre-approval). The China Team then sends this back to CCAA immediately.

CCAA ships two original Travel Invitations to the China Team, per family. The China Team then requests a Consulate Appointment at the U.S. Consulate in Guangzhou, China for the families that are paper ready to travel. Once a Consulate appointment is confirmed, the China Team notifies the local social workers of the family's travel dates. At this point, the family immediately makes their international air reservations. Once these are completed, the China Team begins building the family's travel itinerary( ie: Provincial adoption registration appts, touring, transportation, travel accomodations, etc.).

Referral to travel: This time frame varies from family to family. Once a family has officially accepted a referral and submits WC 2 acceptance paperwork, the China Team processes the paperwork; translation, uploading to the CCAA portal, etc. CCAA then issues PA within a couple of weeks of this referral acceptance upload. LOA then follows PA depending on where the families case is at the CCAA. On average, families with dossiers through the review room may travel within 3-4 months post referral acceptance.
